Escape the Asylum

GaryI've been to the asylum with my wife, and we enjoyed it a lot. I dont want to write any spoilers but I would definitely recommend it to those who love escape rooms..

Escape the Mad Hatter
Mountain View (CA)
This is a "revolving-door" style escape room. Your team gets five minutes in a small room with a single puzzle. After five minutes, you're moved to another room regardless of whether you've solved your puzzle or not. There are four rooms total, and you get two chances to solve each room. That means you have a total of ten minutes in each room. If you fail to solve a room after your second try, you'll be unable to escape._x000D_ _x000D_ The revolving door style lets it boast an impressive player count (24 players?), because different teams can use different rooms in parallel without having to see each other. But it's extremely jarring to be moved from one room to another before you've solved a puzzle, to be moved back into a room that you've half-completed after solving three other unrelated puzzles, or to have solved three out of four puzzles and have nothing to do because the schedule constrains you._x000D_ _x000D_ And since there's only one puzzle per room, your potentially 6-person team is all crowding around a single task at any given time. Part of the fun of an escape room is the way your group divides to solve different tasks and rejoins to share what they've learned, but that's impossible here since you always have exactly one puzzle in front of you._x000D_ _x000D_ The puzzles are fairly simple but fun, the decor is amateurish but flavorful. I'm sure there are many worse rooms in the SJ area, but I know there are many rooms that are much much better.

Went to the Mad Hatter room today. Had an absolute blast! Very creative set up, puzzles are challenging and fun. Unique design, I was quite impressed. Perfect for both new escapees and those (like me) that are addicted!

Had an amazing time with Kevin, the Mad Hatter...great clues, everything in order, and our host had a charming, friendly personality. This is a great room with a clever theme and appropriately challenging puzzles. Come visit!

Escape the Mad Hatter

I came here last weekend to do the mad hatter room with some friends I had visiting. A few of us had been to escape rooms before, so we kinda knew the drill! I felt like the puzzles here were hard (but not too hard) and our host was always making sure we were having a good time. I'll be back to try another room soon!

Ryptic's latest gape, Escape from the Asylum, was so much fun! The decor was spot on - they did a great job recreating the feel of an asylum. And the puzzles kept us busy and engaged the entire time. Definitely worth checking out!

Escape the Asylum

Very clever room and a lot of fun. Our game leader Taylor was probably the best host we've had and we've done a lot of escape rooms. He subtly nudged you in the right direction in such a clever intelligent way and allowed us to still figure out the puzzles and rooms ourselves. I highly recommend.

Escape the Asylum

Such a fun way to spend an afternoon! This room had an interesting twist on conventional escape rooms - instead of simply trying to escape with your group, you are competing with other groups at the same time! The room was furnished just like an asylum an had lots of fun electronics to play with._x000D_ _x000D_ I played the game with 15 of my friends and we were split into four different teams. Although we failed to escape in time, our team had fun working together to solve all the puzzles. It's a challenging room and you definitely have to think outside the box in ways I didn't expect._x000D_ _x000D_ Also, the staff were really enthusiastic, friendly, and awesome. They help you out during the game with little hints and nudges if you get stuck. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and highly recommend it.
