We have tried an astonishing number of escape, so we have put together some tricks that have stood the test of time and will probably come in handy in the escape rooms as well.
Teamwork is very important in the escape room, so it is good to get into the adventure with people who already have a common ground. The deeper you know each other, the better, because communication will be smoother.
Because the escape rooms have limited capacity, it does matter how many of you start the quest. It is worth knowing in advance how many players are ideal to go on a play to avoid crowd. This is set by the escape room; the maximum number of people can be seen immediately when buying tickets. If more people want to come, you should rather think in 2 teams.
Sometimes you just cannot get over a puzzle. It happens. In that case, do not lose your enthusiasm, but ask one of your teammates for help because you know, more eyes see more.
The escape game will be the most fun if you try all possible solutions to the puzzles. When someone has some unusual, perhaps crazy idea, do not turn it down, try it! The world is often upside down here, so it could easily be that a little madness needs to lead to a solution.
Whatever clues you find, always speak aloud so others know that. Be it a seemingly insignificant detail, it may be something that will trigger a thought in one of your teammates that will bring you closer to a solution.
Try to look for a task that no one else from the team is working on to be effective enough. For the same reason, do not let team members just stare around instead of contributing. It is sure that there will be enough puzzles for everyone.
It is worth collecting used and unused objects and tools separately. This is especially true for keys, for example. It is very rare for a key to unlock multiple locks, so it is best to leave in the lock the keys you have used before so you do not have to try repeatedly and thus waste time.
To get started, always carefully inspect every tiny corner of the escape room. It is best to split between among the team members and search through inch by inch, because that way, nothing will miss your attention.
In the escape room, you never know in advance, what will matter in the next minutes? This is not only the case with the hidden clues, but also with the introductory text. Pay close attention to the narration, because there may be a little word that will help you throughout the game.
If you are stuck somewhere, feel free to ask the game master for help. This is not going to reduce the gaming experience because game masters never reveals the solution, they just lead you to it, and so you have to fight for it the same way.
All escape rooms are brain gymnastics, no physical force is required. For example, if a key does not open a lock, you are better off looking for another solution than you start forcing. The same is true for the other puzzles. If something does not move, it is not worth pushing, look elsewhere for a solution!
Since escape games will require your brain, it is not a good idea starting it drunk. Although there is no tragedy, but like at an IQ test or high school exam, you can best solve the tasks of the exit games if you are on the top mentally. Therefore, if you are playing one as part of a girl’s or bachelor party program, it is worth playing before you start having fun.
Many experienced players say they felt best in the escape rooms when they could not get out. Of course, the experience of success is great, but the game is best when you have doubts about whether you can solve all the puzzles. Thus, it may or may not, but this does not reduce the gaming experience. An escape room would be just boring if anyone could easily walk through it at any time. That is not he goal, but to make you feel good every minute of the game.
